Well, most of our move is done but that leaves unpacking, ew. I'm blessed that our new place has a room reserved for me. Yes, an actual sewing room for ME. I haven't had my own room since... I can't remember when. Even when I was younger I shared a room since I have a litter of siblings. But I have a room now and boy did the husband and kids give me 'stuff' about it because my room is larger than theirs. But why not? They're always giving me 'stuff' about all my stuff. When we moved, I got 'stuff' because I had more boxes than everyone else. But my stuff is so divine; boxes of beads, notions, fabric scraps, fat quarters, UFOs, books, old magazines and trinkets. So what if I have more crafting items than cookware? Dinner always ends up on the table. Well, now it does since I surrendered the dining room table back to the family.
Now my boxes are holding up the walls in this room of possibilities. Where do I put my stuff? What happened to my trusted table? Oh, yea, we're eating on it! Some how this post reminds me of George Carlin. We moved into a bigger house to put all our stuff and now we need more stuff to organize our stuff. Stuff! All of this to say, look for a giveaway soon. I need to make room for some new stuff. :)
I hung my Om quilt above my cutting table. I stared at it for a long time. I'm in love with the burgandy, rust and gold duponi silk. Already it's setting a tone of peace. That was my intention when I made it.
This week's goal is a design wall. I read a few how to's and I need to conquer a project even though I should unpack my closet. But I don't need to organize my shoes right now or do I? I decided to be real simple about it and tack some batting to the wall. I purchased two yards of cotton batting off the bolt at JoAnn's and presto, a design wall. I don't like the way the edges look so I need to figure out a way to create a nice border around it. Maybe I'll braid some fabric or something. But it works fine and how simple to do. I immediately put Adam's quilt top on it. I see now what I would have done differently if I had a design wall earlier. I'm so excited at the endless possibilites for future projects. Now 'll be able to see them better.
Also, I'm still looking for a couple crafty bloggers to make projects for in Pay It Forward. Click on my Pay It Forward post and add your name to the comments and I'll contact you with additional info.
Cheers everyone!

Tell them to "stuff it"! Haha. I want to see a picture of your design wall. I'm excited for you to have a sewing room. I got (claimed) mine last summer. Still getting some "stuff" about it. Certain grown children don't have their own rooms here anymore....ob well. Best to you! Terah
